The parish is dependent on the parish's community to volunteer time and talents in sharing their faith with the children. The volunteer teachers commit to the instruction and formation of the children of our parish in the Catholic faith. They must be practicing Catholic in good standing. They must sign an agreement to teach Catholic beliefs, practices and the traditions of our faith in accordance with the Church teachings.

The catechist should be a prayerful person who is willing to share with others the faith that is alive within their life. The catechist should use all the means at their disposal to assure proper transmission of our faith sharing through personal preparation, preparation of classes, materials, and lesson planning; making every effort to be creative in the use of materials and equipment necessary in helping the student understand the joys and knowledge that our faith in Jesus teaches us.

Teachers are required to be certified as Catechists through programs sponsored by the Archdioceses of Galveston-Houston.

All volunteers in the School of Religion must complete the "Protecting God's Children Program," before beginning active service in the school's program.
