Philosophy
We believe that all of life is filled with learning. Our faith is a very important part of this learning experience.
Goals of the program
- To build upon the religious faith nurtured by the student’s families and celebrated in baptism.
- To provide religious formation which is consistent with the basis traditions and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church as reflected in the direction set by the Second Vatican Council and its applications to contemporary living.
- To provide the opportunity to experience the rich sacramental life of the church, which can nourish and sustain life.
- To create a sense of community identity which can be an ever deepening experience of Church for the students and their families.
- To involve the students in the Mission of the Church on levels appropriate to their development.
- To assist parents’ growth in their roles as “religious educators,” and to enjoy this interaction with their children.
Parental Involvement
The National Catechetical Directory states that “parents are the primary catechists of their children. They catechize informally but powerfully by example and instruction. They communicate values and attitudes by showing love for Christ and His Church and for each other, by reverently receiving the Eucharist and living in its spirit, and by fostering justice and love in all their relationships.” This document also states “their active involvement in the parish, their readiness to seek opportunities to serve others, and their practice of frequent and spontaneous prayer, all make meaningful their profession of belief. Parents nurture faith in their children by showing them the richness and beauty of lived faith.”
Policy of Nondiscrimination
St. Benedict CCE Program accepts students equally on the basis of sex, race or national origin.
Updating records
The permanent record will be updated each year as a student progresses through our program. Parents should take responsibility for informing the office of any changes of address, phone number, or any circumstances concerning the student we need to be aware of.
Availability of students records
Parents may arrange with the office to see their child’s permanent record by requesting this in writing. Be assured that the records will be kept confidential.
Communication
We are here to serve the religious education needs of our children and youth. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to share them with your child’s catechist or the CCE Coordinator.
