Message from Our PastorFr. Huy Ding, C.S.Sp.

TREASURE THE WORK OF OUR HANDS

As we approach the celebration of Labor Day, we thank God for our hands which complete our body and allow it to give and to receive. We are called to be the extended hand for God, not only to receive his grace but also to be able to share with one another what we have received.

Look at your hands. Though empty, they are filled with power. Even though the fingers are not all the same, each one works in unity with the others, sharing the work and the fruits of the work for the whole body. In like manner, we may not all be the same or work at the same tasks yet together we share the work and the fruits of the whole community. St. Paul tells us, “And he gave some as apostles, others as prophets, other as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers, to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ”. (Ephesians 4:11-12)  Some of us do manual labor and others do management work, some in the office or the kitchen, some in the church or out in the parking lot but we all use our hands to build a loving community. We though poor, little and vulnerable, are powerful when we are all together like fingers in a hand.
